When we announced the closing of our retail shop on Niels Juels Gate 51, some of our clients were taken aback. We would never have taken such a step without good reason, and I’d like to share with you the good news about why we’re moving to a new location on Riddervolds Gate 10B and how the new Pièces Uniques boutique & showroom will better serve you.
I started selling my designs on a retail scale in 2007, after working for years at a world-renowned jeweler in the Caribbean. At first, I sold directly to established retail operations in the US, France, and the Caribbean. After moving to Oslo in 2014, I opened my own retail store and launched the Pièces Uniques brand. We’ve since earned a global reputation for creating unique, subtly expressive jewelry, and for a responsive array of custom design services.
Along the way, we’ve developed business practices that match our artisanal vision. I design each piece right here in Oslo, often using gemstones personally selected by Isabella, our Singapore-based gemologist. Daniel, our master craftsman, leads a team of Paris-based artisans that brings each design meticulously to life.
That approach is reflected in the way we do business directly with customers. Our retail clients enjoy an atmosphere that’s as unique as the jewelry we design and sell. Pièces Uniques is a place for customers to relax, have a coffee, and discuss their needs and wishes with expert and attentive staff, and we’ve gotten to know many of our customers personally. A traditional retail store didn’t reflect those qualities as fully as we’d have liked it to, so we’ve decided to replace it with a creative space that combines a boutique & showroom and workshop.
The reimagined Pièces Uniques opens on May 14th, in Frogner, Oslo. It features a showroom displaying the latest designs from Pièces Uniques and selected guest designers, and an atelier where the brand’s upcoming designs are conceived. As previously, the new space will also feature a complete repair service and custom-design studio.
Clients will now have a buying experience that’s built around them, rather than one that’s been adapted for them. The new boutique will invite you to sip coffee or champagne while discussing your needs with a designer. If you wish to commission a custom design or help you reimagine an older piece you inherit, you’ll find all the support you need. Above all, Pièces Uniques’ new home will be a celebration of jewelry, and of the spirit of poise, elegance, and confidence that breathes through our collections.
We’re also devoting new resources to our website, bridging the gap between our online and physical showrooms. Our site will allow customers to preview upcoming collections, consult with our expert staff, and place orders for delivery or in-store pickup.
I began my career as a designer by flying among the US, France, and the Caribbean, meeting personally with retailers I respected and selling them designs that best fit their clientele. Twelve years later, I still believe that personal relationships and responsive service are the best ways to do business. Pièces Uniques’ new space will allow us to share that philosophy more completely and artfully with our customers than ever before.
